Project type

Urban Studies

Status

2016 - 2019

Location

Ningbo, Zhejiang

The diagnostic study and research of Ningbo’s urban character were conducted through a series of collaborative workshops, engaging a diverse panel of advisors and specialists. The primary focus was the strategic planning and regulatory control of urban integrity and contextual continuity, aiming to preserve the "genetic" markers of the city—its unique regional environment, cultural identity, and architectural vernacular.

In addressing future urban evolution, the proposal adopts an ethos of heritage, inclusivity, and innovation to explore spatial typologies that authentically mirror the city’s economic and cultural vitality. Through a granular analysis of character zones, landmark interfaces, and waterfront spatial dynamics, the study puts forward actionable methodologies and implementation strategies.
