The folded flood-retaining wall is conceived as both a primary landscape element and an elevated pedestrian promenade. Four spatial typologies—Water, Islands, Plazas, and Parks—are inserted into the interlocking land pockets on either side of the wall. Their juxtaposition seeks to reconcile the density and vibrancy of Shanghai’s metropolitan life with an enduring desire for nature.
