Qitang Country Road

Lying upon the historic seventh oceanfront dyke, Qitang Road serves as the central spine of a largely overlooked agricultural zone within Qianwan New District - home to nearly half of the district’s population. This project investigates the central segment of Qitang Road, a shared frontage for seventeen villages across two towns, and explores opportunities to reestablish a collective identity anchored in this rural corridor, both for the villages themselves and for the rapidly expanding district as a whole. By engaging the layered histories and diverse local cultures embedded along the road, and intervening with a series of acupunctural developments, the renewed Qitang Road is envisioned as a connective medium linking residents who continue to live and work here with those who carry a sense of attachment and memory from afar.
